thoughts: much like many others i got entirely absorbed during the pandemic and then stopped playing about three months in i think lol. i prefer the overall gameplay of new leaf to this game (plus you don't have to pay for internet play), but it is obviously visually wonderful and i don't feel like the time i did spend playing it was wasted!

thoughts: i used to play ridiculous amounts of this game and i am not ashamed at all!! even as just the base game, you get so much functionality and enjoyment from all the different catalogues and activities to complete and do, and if you're not afraid of hacking your game you get tons more control over your town, giving it functionality similar to new horizons! if you like these kinds of life sim games and for whatever reason haven't given animal crossing a go, please do! (p.s kyle is best villager)

thoughts: my switch was a botw machine for the longest time. i got my first job solely to buy my own switch and play botw on it. this was my first real introduction to the loz series and holy shit was it a great one. i have burned so many hours of my life just riding horses and checking out the landscape and climbing rocks and UGH i love it. i havent actually beaten it because i just find so much stuff i want to do and explore and enjoy. if i could be any fictional character it would be botw link actually peak. actually any incarnation of link is my ideal gender presentation. play botw

thoughts: im doing a playthrough with my roommates with all of our friends as the other characters and yes its cute, yes its a good time, yes the mechanics of leveling up and friendship and stuff are cute, but no way in hell is this game worth $50 USD. i think we got it on a (very rare almost never happens) sale or something for $30 and that sounds way more reasonable. if you liked tomodachi life or find mii and if you like rpgs, youll like this game, but dont let nintendo get you with their predatory pricing

thoughts: minecraft is so like intrinsically a part of my dna as a living being. its always been such a hub of creativity and expression and storytelling and community, and i think its going to be one of those games that will exist eternally in some form on every future piece of technology. you can't have a technological future without a game like minecraft. i'll talk more about my own personal experiences with the game in my shrine for it but just know its very important to me :]

thoughts: i love moon hunters!! such a cool multiplayer experience, i love how different every playthrough is and how things weave into one another!! each playthrough is kind of like a personality test? its based around the concept of how people are remembered vs the things they actually did. if you have some more roleplaying game inclined friends (like a dnd group or just buddies who might enjoy this kind of thing too) get em together and pick up the game!! sales can make it go as low as litterally 2 bucks so i really encourage you to go for it!!

thoughts: i love this game a lot :] it was one of the first games i bought with my own money because i wanted to do my own playthrough despite watching other peoples. "weird autumn" is one of my Me songs and exploring possum springs always brings me some november-october joy. the story was important to me when i first played it and as a college age kid going to school away from his homestate now its just as if not even moreso now!! the * is because i have never touched demontower bc i just couldnt get into it lol but its still very good if its your thing!!

thoughts: okay sorry i made this list and then realized that pokemon would take up 99% of it so. for the purposes of this know that pokemon is my longest running forever special interest and i wouldn't be who i am today without the series and that i own a majority of the games. if youd like my opinion on any individual game please see my pokemon shrine but in general i reccommend emerald, platinum, heartgold/soulsilver, black/white/black2/white2, x/y, and ultra sun/ultra moon. don't pay the wild prices to play these older games. ok thats all love you mwah

thoughts: god i love the portal games. 1 isnt on this list because i never played it for myself (i had no money) but i bought 2 because i wanted to play the solo game so bad AND co-op!!! such a fantastic series that holds up so well, if you want a wonderful solo experience of puzzles and storytelling and an equally wonderfully frustrating co-op experience, portal 2 is a classic that is worth every penny. also i love wheatley hes pathetic

thoughts: super super cute game!! not big into puyo puyo but tetris is like a stim to me and this is my favorite way to play it :] i like to main lemres. it really is super fun, if you like fun puzzle games in general, tetris, puyo puyo, and cute character designs, youll like puyo puyo tetris!!

thoughts: ok this game is actually very fun and i like it a lot!!!! i am so so bad at keeping up with any sort of fitness goals of mine but this kept me on a good streak for a really long time!! i fell out of the habit and havent gotten back on it yet but By God I Will. it actually teaches you a lot about how to properly stretch and wind down and stuff and it made me (someone who cried in P.E.) really enjoy exercise!! watch some gameplay and see if its for you!!

thoughts: This is the story of a guy named Auden. Auden loved weird narative explorations involving the nature of choice, medium, and art itself, so when the original Stanley Parable came out approximately one billion years ago, he was thrilled to play and enjoy it. Now, with the release of the Ultra Deluxe Edition, Auden can happily say that it is indeed the definitive Ultra Deluxe Edition, and that even those who have played the original Stanley Parable will find new and exciting avenues to explore that make this game worth the purchase. Auden highly reccommends you play this game completely spoiler free if you have no idea what it is, as it will surely be worth it.

thoughts: surely anyone whos made it this far into my website has played undertale at this point, but if not, please treat yourself to it. such a heartwarming and compelling story, such an innovative use of video game tropes and mechanics, and such a sincere and hopefull outlook on the world as a whole. the only reason i've never "completed" this game is because one of the endings is something i could never bring myself to do, and just know that you can experience all of the joy this game has to offer without 100%ing it. i really do think this game made me a better person :]

thoughts: i dont think you can give vrchat a star rating. i played vrchat on my original oculus quest before facebook bought things and made everything terrible. being in virutal reality really is such a surreal feeling to try and explain to people who have never tried it before, and surreal is also a really good descriptor for vrchat. in a game where you can be anything and talk to anyone, you really do come into some of the most interesting circumstances. im grateful to have gotten to experience this era of VR tech first hand, and im excited to see where it grows from here! (hopefully in a more widely accessible direction and away from the hands of meta, at the very least)

thoughts: what an awesome concept, right? if youve played animal survival games like shelter, you will really enjoy wolfquest. i picked it up after i watched a group of creators i enjoy playing it, and after playing it with some friends i can vouch for how good of a time it can be. if you enjoy learning about wildlife, get excited at the idea of living as a wolf in Yellowstone, or just want a cool survival game with music that goes really really hard for no reason, check out wolfquest!!
