Hi there! Last time I saw you was February. Wow. Time goes by so fast! Here's a mini recap:
That being said, it hasn't been the smoothest of sailing. My mental health has taken a really big hit since coming back home. I don't know if you relate, but I get really bad seasonal depression during the summertime. Something about the heat and being cooped up in my room just makes everything that much harder to cope with. I'm doing alright, though -- I've gotten to spend some quality time with my sibling and rest(-ish) before diving into a new school year of academic and financial work! I'm hoping I'm able to get some funds together this year to make some progress on my mental health situation.
What else... I've been tinkering a little with the website recently! I thought it would be a fun idea to change it up a little during the different seasons. Right now the background is for summer, i'm so excited to decorate for fall, winter and spring!
Speaking of website tinkering, i'm a little torn on this blog space. I really really do like zonelets, and I think it's super impressive what you can do with just this alone, but I've seen some more "streamlined" layouts where folks might impliment an infinite scroll for every month of entries, or something similar. I enjoy the sort of low-stakes or low-pressure energy that those kind of layouts give off. All that being said, i'll most likely be sticking to this for the forseeable future. I can get over my own psychological pressures of writing a blog entry if it means improved accessability and organization!
One thing i'm more torn on is the overall style of this blog. Well, of the website in general, really. That's a problem I tend to have often, haha. I have issues with keeping a cohesive idea of my online identity, to which I would normally say, "Screw the rules! Make it a patchwork mess, it's your space!" but it's difficult when the lack of cohesion comes from polar opposite places. Dark occult, woodland, cybercore, rainbow-Crayola-birthday party, minimalist, maximalist - the aesthetics alone give me enough of an inner conflict, let alone the actual content of the site!
Even my typing styles vary greatly. I'd call what I've been using to write these blogs so far my "Email Voice", but it's not my default way of speaking. typically its all lowercase with the only punctuation coming in at random intervals to accentuate the tone of the message!! In some of my typing styles I lose some authetic spontineity, in others I lose the authenticity of what I'm truly feeling or experiencing, but alternating between them would lead to an unreadable mess. I'd like to keep this site as accesible as possible, including to screen readers, so I guess we'll see where that takes me.
Okay, last paragraph before I let you go. What's coming up? Lots of packing, lots of cleaning, lots of job hunting, lots of see-you-soons and welcome-backs, and i'm looking forward to every second of it! I've been getting hardcore back into some nostalgic tech (can I bring my old DS Lite back from the dead?), so that will most likely serve as a future entry. Until then, keep cool (or warm, southern hemisphere friends!) and take care of yourself!
